Recently I was interviewed by the Oregonian for their Jobs Profile section and one of their talented photographers came and took my pictures during a photoshoot. It was interesting to be on the other side of the camera. Hopefully I looked fine
It was a last minute thing so I set up an engagement session with one of my couples, Jennifer and Robert and we had a blast.

As I understand it (I hope I got this all right), they are launching a new format for their careers section and I will be the first or one of the first to be featured. They were interested in the fact that I was working at a high tech company for a long time and then took a very different path. I hope they wrote nice things about me
So check out the Oregonian on the 2nd!
Here is another picture from that session:

My friends Jeff and Janine have the cutest baby ever. Just the best smile. I was so glad that we get to take pictures of them!
Here are some from that session. What a good looking family.

I finished editing LaTosha and Mark’s wedding. We have some awesome photos. They are online now!
The rest can be seen here by clicking here.

The reception and ceremony were at the Abernethy Center, in Oregon City at their newly decorated ceremony location. It was beautiful. The video was by Focal Point Video, a talented video company who were joy to work with as we both respected each other. Sometimes it is not as easy work with other image makers as people tend to block each other but these guys were very nice. Frankly, I prefer being the only image maker but if I will work with others, people like Focal Point and Fan Boy Video (another good video company) make it much easier. The end result is a much better product for the couple as well!
Anyway - Mark and Latosha are actually coworkers from Intel. I met them through another good friend, Matt whose sister’s wedding I shot. They were originally going to have their wedding at Dominican Republic but changed it back to Oregon to be with more family. They got married on the anniversary of the day they met couple years ago.
Both families were so fun! And the dancing rocked too! These are some of my best reception photographs, I think!
Abernethy center was great too - indoor and outdoor locations made life easier.

I have been swing dancing for 10 years, I do east coast (jitterbug), lindy hop and some west coast and salsa. Due to my insanely busy schedule I have not been going out much over the last year so it was great to go out with my friends Dharma and his wife Kerry to Nocturnal, an all ages venue that does swing dances on Sunday nights. They have beginner dance lessons thought by talented Leah and Angie so if you never done swing dancing, you get a free lesson too! Very fun.
Boy, I was rusty! I think I will start going out again at least once a week.

Pictures from Alison and Zach’s Wedding is online at this link. The ceremony and reception was at Portland’s White House, a great location with great ambience and food, esp. good for intimate weddings. Alison and Zach included their son Isaac into the wedding which was very touching.
Here are some pictures (more here):

I covered a wedding back in 2003 December, right after Christmas when a photographer friend broke his arm. The couple was very nice and groom’s father officiated the ceremony which was very touching. The groom was being deployed to Iraq in 8 days, which made it even more emotional for the couple.
Two year’s later I shot her sister’s wedding as well!
Her mom told me that she won an award in journalism with her school paper and used one of my images.

A new area I am working on is the high school senior portraits. Frankly, the ones I have seen are pretty boring.
I am attaching a photo that I took at my latest senior shoot. Don’t worry - we took plenty of standard poses. Then played around to get some more edgy and fun ones. Hannah was a very fun person to photograph and we got some great stuff.
My approach to high school seniors would be to shoot almost all outdoors - I love available light and natural backgrounds - be it industrial, parks, or sunsets. I especially like using studio lights outdoors. I will post an example of that soon as well.

You might have noticed the link on the right side to djangology. It is my very good friend Jon’s website. He is an amazing Django guitar player. He also plays music at weddings, so feel free to contact him if you need a musician.
