Shaharzad and Bryce were married in the lovely town of Issaquah, right outside of Seattle. There ceremony was held in the gorgeous barn at Pickering Farms. The wedding day was a mix of East Indian traditions and Seattle influences. From the amazing Indian food and bright beautiful colors and Bollywood style dancing after dinner, to the laid back funky sounds of their reception band fronted by Skerik on the sax, who tours a lot with his band the Dead Kenny G’s.
Alexis and Jerry had their beautiful destination wedding in Sayulita Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta, on Valentines day, in Don Pedro’s Palapa.
The day started with getting ready at Mi Otra Casa. Everything was being expertly coordinated by Gabriela and Guillermo of Mar Weddings. After the ceremony overlooking the ocean and Playa Los Muertos. Then we headed down to first the beautifully decorated cemetery to take some photos to the theme of eternal love. At the beach near the ceremony site, we took a few fun shots and we were playfully surrounded by a group of local kids, and their cute chihuahua. When we got back from the beach, a mariachi band led the couple to the reception - the fiesta and dancing started followed up by a romantic fireworks display during wedding cake cutting. Other highlights of their week included al pastor tacos at the rehearsal dinner and a cigar roller at the wedding location!
Teri and Andrew were married at the lovely St. Patrick’s church in the North West portion of Portland. I love the entrance to the church so much! Especially the stairs winding down both sides. After their ceremony the couple headed to Kells Irish Pub in downtown Portland for their reception, and a Guinness!
Here is a quick sneak peak at one of Amy and Matt’s Mazatlan wedding! They got married at Mayan Palace Sea Garden, a very beautiful resort. Shooting weddings at Mazatlan will probably my favorite thing to do now. As a photographer, it was so easy to find millions of things to photograph, and I am not talking about wedding related things!
Much less touristy and pulmonia taxis rock! We took the taxis from Pueblo Bonito where we stayed to everywhere else! Amy and Matt are such great people - I can’t wait to finish editing their photos!
Dana could not stop smiling all day long. It is so fun to work with couples who are so relaxed on their wedding day!
We started the day at the Benson Hotel where she was getting ready, wearing her comfortable slippers. Though she secretly wanted to wear those to her wedding, she changed into her gorgeous dress. Later, her walking in the same dress down the aisle left Brandon speechless.
The reception was at the Treasury Ballroom. What a unique place for Portland to have. It is great for intimate weddings with a classy feel. They had a sweets/candy bar! Not much was left at the end of the day! Dana and Brandon got serenaded by the bridesmaids later. Brandon’s little niece was lots of fun to listen to!
Rachel and Carlos were married at McMenamins Edgefield, one of our favorite places to shoot weddings. It also happened to be quite a windy day as well, with one of the trees by the old red water tower snapping like a toothpick. Rachel had a beautiful handmade dress by Cicada Designs in Seattle for her big day, and Carlos had a tie made from an unused portion of the same fabric, they looked great together.
I had the pleasure of attending Portland Lindy Exchange this year as well. It was a blast. Due to my travel schedule, I am only able to post Day 2 at this point, but check back in about 10 days and I will post the other days as well.
We photographed an exciting Night of the Henna event at the exquisite Nines Hotel in downtown Portland. The bride, Eman, is the daughter of famous designer Fiona Cibani, so every detail was creatively designed and executed. The night was filled with many interesting nuances ranging from live gold fish in the table center pieces to the exotic Middle Eastern belly dance by Astryd Farah deMichel. The festivities were perfectly coordinated by Jules Rupae of Another Perfect Production and Morgan Griffin of the Nines Hotel. The staff at the Nines Hotel were amazing to work with.
Other fun details were: Pearl necklaces were given to all ladies who attended as favors, great cocktails such as Mango honey, a great Middle Eastern band, henna ceremony with cake and henna candle.
