After their fabulous Puerto Vallarta wedding at Playa Fiesta, I teamed up with Melissa and Bryan and did some shots around Puerto Vallarta. Here are some:

Melissa and Bryan’s Wedding at Playa Fiesta Beach Club at Puerto Vallarta

I have been looking forward to a Playa Fiesta wedding in Puerto Vallarta for a long time. This was one of the best times I had at a wedding - great people and great location! Playa Fiesta Beach Club and Hotel at Puerto Vallarta is one of the top places for a wedding at Puerto Vallarta, and I can see why. The owners, Lindsay and Adam do a great job of getting things done without being overbearing, and things ran very smoothly. The setting is right at the beach! I love Puerto Vallarta weddings at the beach!

Melissa and Bryan’s wedding had a lot of neat touches! Their “engagement photo” for their signature matte was a  caricature drawn by a local artist. Mariachi’s escorted them with their music before the ceremony. The goodie bags they prepared for their guests had everything including a shot glass and a salt shaker! They even have a customized logo, very cool. They asked their guests to make a wish for them and throw the sea shells that were placed on their seats back to the sea.

Here are some of my favorites:

Amy and Matt’s Mazatlan Wedding at Mayan Sea Garden in Mexico

Mazatlan is my new favorite spot in Mexico I think. I am so glad Amy & Matt chose us as their Mazatlan wedding photographer at Mayan Sea Garden so we could visit this beautiful city in Mexico. It is a city of  400k people, and primarily the industry is either Mazatlan weddings, shrimp fishing or tourism (biggest shrimps I ever seen!)

Amy is one of those brides who is low key but super organized. Everything was well planned, but you never got the feeling that there was an ounce of stress the entire time. She created a wonderful Mazatlan travel guide with her mom, and it was better than any travel book on Mazatlan I ever seen. I will be posting it here so other Mazatlan brides can use it for their Mazatlan wedding or just as a Mazatlan wedding travel guide! We also joined the wedding party for a great Mazatlan city tour the day before the Mazatlan wedding and also at the rehearsal dinner. Homey, who is a licensed travel guide, is  a good friend of the family and is very knowledgeable and friendly, and he showed us all over the city. Since we had a day after session planned (I will post that later), he also took notes of places I liked.

We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan (a sister resort to Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay) and zipped around town in the fun Pulmonia’s, the open air taxis that literally mean pneumonia in Spanish. So much fun! Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan is a nice resort, with kitchen in rooms, so that was great for some cooking, but next time I will book the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay - it is so amazing.

The wedding day, we took the pulmonia to the Mayan Sea Garden. It is a beautiful resort, in Nuevo Mazatlan. We took some pictures of Amy and Matt getting ready, a few group shots and then to the reception. Amy looked beautiful and Matt had some tears when they first saw each other. It was a great day for photography. The sunset wedding ceremony was officiated by Pastor Jorge, another long time friend of Amy’s parents, and he sang a beautiful song to them (and later to his wife too, what a great voice!). Both ceremony and reception were at Mayan Sea Garden.

The rest of the day was punctuated by a gorgeous sunset. Amy, Matt and Sydney took a little time off from the wedding and went to the beach at sunset and we got some great shots there too. Mariachi’s were playing some great music to set the ambiance. One of the mariachi’s also decided to taste the cake a little ahead of time - I caught him in the act, check out the photos below! The cake was decorated with sea shels and a Mazatlan cake topper and was by Mama Dulci.

Alexis and Jerry in Sayulita (Puerto Vallarta), Mexico

Alexis and Jerry had their beautiful destination wedding in Sayulita Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta, on Valentines day,  in Don Pedro’s Palapa.

The day started with getting ready at Mi Otra Casa. Everything was being expertly coordinated by Gabriela and Guillermo of Mar Weddings. After the ceremony overlooking the ocean and Playa Los Muertos. Then we headed down to first the beautifully decorated cemetery to take some photos to the theme of eternal love. At the beach near the ceremony site, we took a few fun shots and we were playfully surrounded by a group of local kids, and their cute chihuahua. When we got back from the beach, a mariachi band led the couple to the reception - the fiesta and dancing started followed up by a romantic fireworks display during wedding cake cutting. Other highlights of their week included al pastor tacos at the rehearsal dinner and a cigar roller at the wedding location!

Amy and Matt Mazatlan Wedding Preview

Here is a quick sneak peak at one of Amy and Matt’s Mazatlan wedding! They got married at Mayan Palace Sea Garden, a very beautiful resort. Shooting weddings at Mazatlan will probably my favorite thing to do now. As a photographer, it was so easy to find millions of things to photograph, and I am not talking about wedding related things!

Much less touristy and pulmonia taxis rock! We took the taxis from Pueblo Bonito where we stayed to everywhere else! Amy and Matt are such great people - I can’t wait to finish editing their photos!

Niran and Gary at Casa Las Palmas II, Punta Mita

As soon as I met Niran and Gary, I knew we would have a great time and that we would have some amazing photos! I met them for the first time at Calypso Restaurant for the rehearsal dinner. At the rehearsal dinner, there was an AMAZING animated video done by one of their friend’s that detailed their relationship. It was funn, and romantic, and brought a ton of tears and laughter. Kudos! I love to get a copy of that!

Niran loved animals, and she used pictures of her dog to highlight some of the pars of their wedding celebration. The place cards were highlighted by her dog’s pictures. Some of the other cool ideas they had were: hanging pictures detailing their romance on a clothesline, like a timeline, a polaroid guest book, beautiful shells hanging from the tree they got married in front of. There was a great band, and later some of the couple’s musicians friends took over and sang for them as well. How fun! There was even pastor tacos for the guests! Catering was by Don Pedro’s. Everything was expertly organized and ran by Sayulita Dream Weddings‘ Andrea.

Casa Las Palmas II is an amazing location at Punta Mita. It reminds me a little bit of Rancho Huracan that I shot earlier. The bathroom that Niran was getting ready is probably bigger than my entire studio, and had some amazing architecture and light. You can see some pictures I did using that focused light in the photos.

Overall, this was a great time!

Amy and Larry’s Wedding at The Tides, Zihuatanejo

Amy and Larry’s The Tides Hotel wedding at Zihuatanejo was my 3rd wedding of this Mexico trip - I flew in from Puerto Vallarta and joined them at The Tides Hotel. As a Zihuatanejo wedding photographer, I love shooting at the Playa Ropa beach. The boys were hanging out, drinking some Johnny Walker Blue Label, and having a great time in general. I then went to photograph beautiful Amy and her group getting ready and got some great black and white’s. Since this was a Jewish wedding in Mexico, the bride and groom got together and signed the Ketubah. It was a beautiful Zihuatanejo wedding at the beach, with the sun setting right behind them. Just perfect!

The The Tides hotel wedding reception was fun packed, and hora, the chair dance, was very energetic! The wedding party went on for a very long time! There were fireworks, and a whisky bar was frequently visited by the guests!
