Associate Coverage: Irene and Jeff’s Romantic Hawaiian Beach Wedding

Our friends Irene and Jeff had their beautiful sunrise wedding on a stunning beach in Kihei on the Hawaiian island of Maui.  We met up with them a few days beforehand at the amazing Old Lahina Luau in Lahaina.  The luau was rated the best in Maui, and I think it was lived up to it’s name.  Great food, great dancing, and an over all great atmosphere.  Their wedding day started before the sun even appeared, we got ready at their hotel, and then we all headed to a nearby beach for the ceremony, it was very romantic!  Jeff is an avid golfer, so their reception was at the Wailea Golf Club where Jeff and his friends had played golf all day the day before.  After their wedding day, they started their honeymoon all the way in Kauai, leaving us all back in Maui…Oh darn!

Alexis and Jerry in Sayulita (Puerto Vallarta), Mexico

Alexis and Jerry had their beautiful destination wedding in Sayulita Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta, on Valentines day,  in Don Pedro’s Palapa.

The day started with getting ready at Mi Otra Casa. Everything was being expertly coordinated by Gabriela and Guillermo of Mar Weddings. After the ceremony overlooking the ocean and Playa Los Muertos. Then we headed down to first the beautifully decorated cemetery to take some photos to the theme of eternal love. At the beach near the ceremony site, we took a few fun shots and we were playfully surrounded by a group of local kids, and their cute chihuahua. When we got back from the beach, a mariachi band led the couple to the reception - the fiesta and dancing started followed up by a romantic fireworks display during wedding cake cutting. Other highlights of their week included al pastor tacos at the rehearsal dinner and a cigar roller at the wedding location!

Amber and Matt at Mar Plata, San Pancho

Amber and Matt tied the knot at Villa de Roja, directly off the beach! The reception was at the beautifully decorated amazing Mar Plata Restaurant. In my opinion, Mar Plata is one of the best restaurants I have been to, so if you are in the Sayulita, Punta Mita, Bucerias, Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta area, make sure to visit them. It is worth a trip!

Here is the coolest thing: the wedding party was accompanied by a super friendly dog the whole week, and he invited himself to the wedding and the reception too. In fact, the doggie was so loved, Amber and Matt adopted him and he is arriving in US soon!

Jessie and Jose’s Unforgettable Dominican Republic Wedding (Arian)

Jessie and Jose had their wedding in the beautiful Dominican Republic. Their wedding was attended by both friends and family, who were also surprised by Jose’s parents renewing their vows. The weather was absolutely perfect on their day and the sunset was gorgeous! The wedding was held in a romantic villa overlooking the green-blue Caribbean, in the lovely town of Sousa.

We shoot a lot of international destination weddings, and this was another great trip for us. It’s always fun to meet new people and explore new unique places!

Associate Coverage: Hediyeh and Anoush Wedding Celebration at Villa Amor in Beautiful Sayulita, Mexico.

Hediyeh and Anoush basically had a 4 day non-stop party during their time in Sayulita. They had a beach party the night before the wedding, which included a mariachi band, an excellent DJ, who spun upbeat club beats all night long, and a surprise fire dancer near the end of the night. On the wedding day we were a top the beautiful Villa Amor Hotel, with views of the surfers and fishermen on the Sayulita beach. As family’s gathered below in the courtyard Hediyeh and Anoush appeared at sunset and joined in the festivities, with lots of great food, tequila, dancing, dancing and if you can believe it….more dancing!!

Annie and Tom’s Wedding at Mar Plata and Villa de Roja in San Pancho

Annie and Tom took the plunge in San Pancho, Mexico. Well, the day after the wedding they took the plunge, into the swimming pool! You will see what I mean.
The wedding ceremony was at the garden of Villa de Roja at San Pancho (or San Francisco), overlooking the ocean with a beautiful sunset for accent!

We then proceed to Mar Plata restaurant, a beautiful restaurant, located right across the street (near Costa Azul Hotel as well).

Sayulita and San Pancho area has some great wedding planners, as I mentioned at Mercan and Joel’s wedding, and this was not an exception. Debbie Barran, of Down the Isle, did a great job at the rehearsal, wedding day and the breakfast the day after.

So more about the pool plunge and couple other photos taken the day after the wedding. I started offering day after sessions for my couples as part of some packages, especially works for multi-day destination weddings but this is not just limited to destination weddings. I have done some in Portland as well. It does not have to be the day after either. The idea is to do a fun photo shoot without the stress and time constraints of the wedding day. You can see some at Stephanie and Jared’s wedding (towards the end)and also Christina’s bridal portrait session. Another option I offer is something you can see at Mercan and Joel’s photos. We covered their welcome party the day before the wedding.
I also want to note that Villa de Roja and Mar Plata were fantastic locations. According to Virtual Vallarta, the prestigious American magazine Conde Nast Traveler ranked Mar Plata restaurant as a Hot Table, a classification of 95 new restaurants made by anonymous correspondents around 30 countries. Pretty cool for a restaurant in a tiny little town.

Annie’s dad secretly wrote, sang and recorded a song for her on his computer with multiple tracks! This is the cd:

Yanet and Jose’s Wedding on Dia de los Muertos

Yanet and Jose, both from Mexico, had their beautiful ceremony at the small church in the small plaza in Sayulita, Mexico. Their friends and family joined in for the occasion. It also happened to be Dia de los Muertos, a nation wide celebration in Mexico. There were many street artists performing in the plaza after the ceremony. The wedding party had reserved the classy and tasty Calypso restaurant above the plaza for their reception, so we had a birds eye view.
