I had the pleasure and honor of photographing the Portland Gala this past December at the Governor Hotel. The Gala is a combined partnership between Oregon’s leading associations that serve the meetings, event and travel industries. It includes Meeting Professionals International – Oregon Chapter; National Association of Catering Executives, Wedding Network USA; Association of Catering and Event Professionals; International Special Events Society, Oregon Association of Bridal Consultants and NW Wedding Pros. All the leading wedding professional of Portland and Oregon were there! There was even a fund raiser for some great organizations. The selected charitable organizations for The Gala this year are the Morrison Child & Family Services and Potluck in the Park.
The night was a great success thanks to all the wonderful people that helped put it together! Portland at it’s best!

Jill and Robert were married at the sophisticated Governor Hotel, located right in the heart of downtown Portland. A favorite spot for us! The evening started out with some getting ready photos of Jill and her bridesmaids, including Rob’s daughter. After some formal family photos in the lobby, Jill & Robert took off for some romantic photos around the hotel. It’s always a fun challenge for us to blend locations around the hotel we already know of and love, but to also find some hidden areas that we get to discover for the first time.
The ceremony took place in the intimate setting of the Renaissance Room. Immediately following, we moved into the Grand Ballroom for dinner, toasting, and dancing to both celebrate and bring in the new year!
In case you could not figure out, the bride and groom are big time Portland Trailblazers fans! Another cool idea: their cake topper was a pez dispenser. Their table settings had pictures of current and past Trailblazers.

Ada and Brad had a very unique wedding, starting at the First Baptists Church in Portland, and then moving to Governor Hotel Heritage Ballroom. They had around 400 fun guests. Ada had three dresses for the various events, such as the tea ceremony - a traditional white dress, a red dress and a pink dress. Their wedding place cards were golf themed. The table decorations were gorgeous!

Kim & Troy’s wedding featured a baseball theme - from singing “Take me out to the ballgame” to serving peanuts to having the dance floor decorated like the baseball field. They both played baseball in college and Troy also played professionally for a while.
The decorations were first class at the Governor Hotel - linens were brought in specially from Seattle by the couple’s wedding planner. Another interesting note was that Kim’s brother played his guitar at the ceremony and also at the reception (with his band). Another interesting part was at the rehearsal - right after the rehearsal, the group took the specially reserved Portland Street Car around town where Premier catering served some great drinks and hors d’oeuvres. It was also the grandparents anniversary and they got married at the same church (First Christian Church)!
