I had the pleasure of photographing the Portland Art Museum’s Disquited exhibit opening reception/gala. The exhibit itself is fantastic (runs until May 16th), and the reception was too. It was catered and designed by Vibrant Table Catering
, and the lighting was exceptional. The wine was donated kindly by Hawks View Cellars, a wonderful vineyard in Sherwood. I had the pleasure of actually working with Kemp family couple years ago, and it was nice to see them again! There was a nice speech by Brian Ferriso, the director of the Portland Art Museum as well!

Portland Art Museum’s recent exhibit, La volupté du goût: French Painting in the Age of Madame de Pompadour will be open from February 7 - March 17, 2009. To celebrate the exhibit, Portland Art Museum put on a gala. Curated by Philippe Le Leyzour, Director, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Tours, and Penelope Hunter-Stiebel, Consulting Curator of European Art, Portland Art Museum. The Portland installation design and interpretation were led by Chief Curator Bruce Guenther and Tina Olsen, Director of Education and Public Programs. This exhibition has received major organizational support from FRAME (French Regional and American Museum Exchange).
Vibrant Table did a tremendous job in decorating the event. Everything was top class. The resulting affect was amazing and it was one of the most wonderfully designed events we’ve ever seen produced from Vibrant Table! Music by Ruslan String Quartet and Design Band!
Here’s some of our favorite highlights from the event:

We had a lot of fun at Lauren and Keith’s wedding! Cowboy boots and hats, mariachi band, gay and lesbian party going on upstairs!
We started the day at Elk Rock Gardens of the Bishop’s Close, a fantastic place! The ceremony was at the Christ Church Episcopal Parish in Lake Oswego, and then the reception was at the beautiful Portland Art Museum Fields Ballroom. The planning was done expertly by Amy from Blush Bridal, flowers were by Francoise Weeks. The museum looked beautiful with all the decorations and flowers. The couple even had a mariachi band to entertain the guests during the cocktail hour. Event Team NW entertained the guests with expert DJ’ing.
Meanwhile another fun event was happening at the Kridel Ballroom - Coronation 2008 by Rose Court. This provided some interesting photography opportunities. Everybody had lots of fun, and Lauren and Keith even got to check out the upstairs party for a bit. The night ended with a beautiful dance by bride and groom surrounded by guests holding candles. (The whole wedding can be viewed here)

Vesna and Tony had their beautiful ceremony at The Grotto - the setting was very serene with sun peeking through the trees. Afterward the reception was at the Portland Art Museum Kridel Grand Ballroom, decorated beautifully by Vibrant Table. There was no shortage of awesome music, punctuated by Tony’s own band!

Many people do not know that a place like the Grotto exist in Portland. This beautiful 62 acre Catholic Shrine and botanical garden, also known as The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, is located near 82nd and Sandy, and is truly a world away from the surroundings. You can even take an elevator to a second level with gorgeous views and more amazing gardens. The Grotto only allows one wedding per week, and I had the chance to photograph there last week. It was a beautiful setting with some truly great weather.
The following is a quick selection from last week’s wedding. Vesna and Tony later moved the party to Portland Art Museum Kridel Grand Ballroom, decorated beautifully by Vibrant Table. There were multiple bands, one of which was Tony’s band. It was a musical feast to say the least!
