I think one of the most “oh my god!” moment we saw shooting weddings happened at Allison and Michael’s wedding - Michael reached for the ring shortly before the ceremony, and then realized the rings were not there. The sequence is pretty cool (in hindsight) and the rings came in later after the ceremony and they did a mini ring ceremony. Everything else ran smoothly as Emee from EJP Events did a great job making sure everything ran smoothly.
Other cool thing highlights: Allison and Michael’s dog, from Oregon Humane Society, was their dog ring bearer (and did a great job!) and they also had a fire dancer!
Catering was done by Vibrant Table, and make up was by fabuluous Event Cosmetics. The scene was beautiful and I love oregon farm weddings!

Sarah and Patrick had a lovely wedding at the beautiful Blackberry Hall. The day started with a little oops when Patrick, on his quest for some pear brandy and whiskey broke some glasses at the McMenamins store, but that was the only misstep during the whole day. Everything ran smoothly, there were lots of dancing and everybody enjoyed the good times!
I also have to mention the many different types of pies that were waiting for the guests and the cool pie topper!

Ada and Brad had a very unique wedding, starting at the First Baptists Church in Portland, and then moving to Governor Hotel Heritage Ballroom. They had around 400 fun guests. Ada had three dresses for the various events, such as the tea ceremony - a traditional white dress, a red dress and a pink dress. Their wedding place cards were golf themed. The table decorations were gorgeous!

Many people do not know that a place like the Grotto exist in Portland. This beautiful 62 acre Catholic Shrine and botanical garden, also known as The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, is located near 82nd and Sandy, and is truly a world away from the surroundings. You can even take an elevator to a second level with gorgeous views and more amazing gardens. The Grotto only allows one wedding per week, and I had the chance to photograph there last week. It was a beautiful setting with some truly great weather.
The following is a quick selection from last week’s wedding. Vesna and Tony later moved the party to Portland Art Museum Kridel Grand Ballroom, decorated beautifully by Vibrant Table. There were multiple bands, one of which was Tony’s band. It was a musical feast to say the least!

One of the joys of being a wedding photographer at Portland is that we have some amazing and diverse locations to shoot within an hour of the city. One such location is Kruger’s Farm Market. Kruger’s Farm is a beautiful working farm / market at Sauvie Island, most known for the pumpkin picking, summer concerts or the corn maze, but they also do weddings, and it is a beautiful background for a classic Oregon style wedding. Allison and Michael’s wedding was one of those beautiful weddings. They even had a fire dancer come to do a cool show! The chocolate covered strawberries were very tasty (they insisted I try one
). The bridal party arrived to wedding on friendly Farmer Don’s tractor. Their ring bearer was their dog they adopted from Humane Society.
Here is a quick selection of images. Check back the blog for the full wedding in couple weeks!

Carrie and Jayson had a great wedding at Chinese Garden with tons of unique details and beautiful weather. It started with a great getting ready time at Benson Hotel (amazing light as you will see) and then proceeded for the ceremony and reception to Portland Classical Chinese Gardens.
They had moon cakes as well as wedding cake, a great band, and great food from Typhoon Thai Food Restaurant. C&J set up a table decorated with wedding favors (chopsticks and take-out boxes filled with goodies) in front of their parents and grandparents wedding pictures. During the wedding ceremony, a hummingbird paid a visit to the gazebo as you will see later in the pictures!
During the cake cutting, Carrie achieved a record by smashing cake on two “grooms”. When they were ready to cut the cake, Jayson was nowhere to be found - after waiting for a while, Jayson’s brother stepped in to cut the cake, and promptly got smashed by cake in the face. When Jayson arrived, his fate was similar. You can check it out on the next pages. (Guests and friends of Carrie and Jayson can see the rest of images here - password from Carrie and Jayson)

This was a beautiful wedding at Kruger’s Farm at Sauvie Island with lots of little touch. Maranda and George were very easy to work with - I used to play soccer with George and he is as tough a midfielder as it gets but off the field, he is a very easy going guy. We had some great weather as well! I knew it would be really bright with contrasty lighting, so I used a lot of flash techniques usually used in outdoors fashion shots. You can see some of them below. Great colors, great details, lots of fun!
