Pamela and Aaron’s Engagement Pictures in Portland

Pamela and Aaron have a beautiful house with lots of bright colors. They are also a modern couple who appreciates a more unique approach to photography, not just look at the camera and smile.

So when it came to their engagement pictures, I wanted lots of bold color, unique backgrounds and compositions.  Lucky for me, Portland has a lot of cool locations for such engagement portraits. Here are some:

Rachel and Carlos’ Wedding at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale

Rachel and Carlos were married at McMenamins Edgefield, one of our favorite places to shoot weddings.  It also happened to be quite a windy day as well, with one of the trees by the old red water tower snapping like a toothpick.  Rachel had a beautiful handmade dress by Cicada Designs in Seattle for her big day, and Carlos had a tie made from an unused portion of the same fabric, they looked great together.

High School Seniors

A new area I am working on is the high school senior portraits. Frankly, the ones I have seen are pretty boring.

I am attaching a photo that I took at my latest senior shoot. Don’t worry - we took plenty of standard poses. Then played around to get some more edgy and fun ones. Hannah was a very fun person to photograph and we got some great stuff.

My approach to high school seniors would be to shoot almost all outdoors - I love available light and natural backgrounds - be it industrial, parks, or sunsets. I especially like using studio lights outdoors. I will post an example of that soon as well.
