We had the pleasure of photographing talented designer Young-Hee Shin’s fashion show at the Wonder Ballroom about a week ago. It was lots of fun to shoot the getting ready, the preparations and various designs she has created and I made lots of contacts with models. If you are a designer or a model and want to work with me, drop me a line. I have a Model Mayhem page as well - I will put more photos there later.

I am doing spring cleaning and getting rid of two books:
Professional Photoshop 5 - The classic guide to color correction (the techniques in this book apply to any version of Photoshop)
Adobe Photoshop 6.0 for Photographers (w/disc) - again most techniques here apply to any version of Photoshop
let me know if you want these - come and pick them up!
Portland has a great swing dance community and they came together to host the 2008 Portland Lindy Exchange. Some of you might remember the pictures from the 2006 exchange here. I can’t believe it has been two years!
I was able to attend all three nights, however, the second night was right after a fantastic but long wedding I shot, so I didn’t bring my camera that night. Since I have not been out dancing as much lately, I didn’t take as many photos but rather took advantage of the great crowds and got my dancing fix in. Despite that, there are still over 200 photos.

Here are some favorites:

I had the pleasure of shooting Shawna and Corey’s wedding at Sayulita about a week after Jill & Michele’s. Shawna and Corey are originally from my hometown of Portland, but they moved to Amsterdam recently. Both Shawna and Corey, and their friends were very friendly and energetic group, and we had a blast. The wedding and reception was at Don Pedro’s Palapa and getting ready was at Casa Casablanca (http://www.sayulitalife.com/casablanca).

Sayulita Beach

Shawna’s Grandma gave her a family ring.

The palm & bamboo arch was very cool - Sayulita Dream Weddings does a great job with the preparations. That is Gabi on the right with black shirt, translating.

An infrared photo. I spend a lot of time after capture to get the look I want.

The toasts were particularly emotional.

First dance

Nice garter!

Rebecca wanted some more shots of her with her wedding dress but in a more relaxed setting than her wedding day allowed. So we shot some more portraits of her recently! Here is one:

I had the privilige of being part of Jill and Michele’s commitment ceremony in Mexico. It is always a pleasure to work with artistic minded people, and both Jill and Michele and their guests were so much fun to be around. We had fireworks, mariachis, salsa band, and tacos pastor! A really fun evening overall! The couple also had one of the most unique invitation’s ever as well. They were designed by Jill’s sister, who is a graphic designer (Quoin Design). The place cards were also very unique - they used loteria cards for that purpose.
To add to the coolness, guests were able to spot some whales from the overlook on Don Pedro’s Palapa. Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta event planners Andrea and Gabi of Sayulia Dream Weddings did a fantastic job as usual organizing event.
I was also able to get some great scenic shots, given that there was a full moon. The night shot of Playa de Los Muertos with stars is my favorite, but the Sayulita bay is also really pretty.
