Peninsula Park Wedding of Alex and Shane

Alex and Shane had a low key and intimate wedding at the Peninsula Park in Portland, Oregon. I love shooting at the Peninsula Park, I used to live nearby and always enjoyed the beauty of it. Peninsula Park was Portland’s first public rose garden and the official rose of Portland, named Mme. Caroline Testout, was cultivated at Peninsula Park. Ok, enough trivia, now to more details.

Alex wore these amazing shoes! I love them. And Shane was like a GQ model. It was strictly family affair and featured some amazing Indian food. Getting ready was at A Painted Inn bed & breakfast, and the reception at their house. The flowers are by Punch and they were beautiful! This was a short coverage but we got great photos!

Jillian and Desi’s Turkish Engagement Session Portraits

I had the pleasure of meeting Jillian and Desi in Portland where they were getting ready to move to Istanbul, Turkey. Their wedding will be in Portland in the summer, but we decided that I would do their engagement pictures in Istanbul. They are a lovely couple, teaching at a very prestigious American high school in Turkey. Interestingly, the person who hired them, Whitman Sheppard, was also my math teacher in another American high school in Istanbul, Turkiye.

We went to many fun places: Sultan Ahmet Mosque, Yerebatan Sarayi (underground cistern), Hagia Sofia (Aya Sofya). I had done another Istanbul fashion shoot around those areas, so I looked for new places. It was a great coincidence that a friend of mine from blues dancing was also in Istanbul at the time and she came to assist me as well! We ended the night by going to Ortakoy and me introducing them to various foods like kumpir (baked stuffed potatoes), and mussel dolma (stuffed mussels) as seen at Anthony Bourdain’s episode about Turkey.

I am very excited to shoot their wedding. It will be coordinated by Champagne Weddings!

Melissa and Minh’s DeSoto Rooftop Terrace Wedding

Portland does not have a lot of rooftop wedding venues. So when we I heard that Melissa and Minh were going to have their wedding at DeSoto Rooftop Terrace, I was very excited!

The wedding was tons of fun. It was a beautiful day and Melissa and Minh turned their backyard into a beautiful wedding site. The guests were a very friendly bunch. There were even couple Turkish people there, which was really cool. Grandpa was the ring bearer and did a great job! It was also interesting to see a twin lens reflex camera. Melissa’s sister Airyka is also a professional photographer and was shooting with a Yashica TLR. Meanwhile at the house, I had the pleasure of seeing Minh’s photography as well. Great job!

Minh gave each flower girl an ukelele! They loved them! The couple went from the ceremony at their house to the wedding reception at Desoto Rooftop Terrace with pedicabs! It was fun.

And during the formals,  we had a visitor from Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence!

The guests were welcomes at the ceremony and reception by a gypsy jazz / swing band, and it was fun to see some of the familiar faces.

Jackie and Scott’s Wedding at Mt Hood Bed and Breakfast

Jackie and Scott had a beautiful wedding at Mt Hood Bed and Breakfast. Scott, a fellow Duke grad and Jackie, the beautiful bride, compliment each other perfectly. I also have to give kudos to them on their choice of wine, Domaine Drouhin 2006 Laurene Pinot Noiris my favorite wine and the other local wines served were excellent as well. The wedding went well awesome, thanks to expert wedding day coordinatio by Molli Barss of Soiree event planning. Jackie and Scott had a beautifully choreographed routine to their first dance - this is something I recommend to all my couples! The dance floor was insanely packed, which was due to the band, Free Rain! The bride and groom left the wedding in a beautiful classic car!

Lauren and Channing’s Wedding Ceremony at Garden Vineyards

Lauren and Channing had a fun filled wedding at the Garden Vineyards. The day was perfect, not too hot, not too cold, the food was fantastic, and everybody had a great time! Michael Allen Harrison, pianist, and Tanner Johnson, violinist, performed great music for the guests. Teonna Earp was the coordinator and the florist, and it was some of the most creative and amazing flower arrangements I ever seen. Garden Vineyards was the perfect back drop for the wedding.  I was also very impressed with how the cupcakes were hanging from a cupcake “tree”. Beautiful!

Lauren looked stunning in her Monique Lhuillier gown and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her hair was a beautiful vintage style.

Since we have a lot of photos, I am breaking it in to 2 parts - to see the rest of the pictures, click here: Part 2 - the Reception.

Corinna and Julie’s Commitment Ceremony at a Christmas Tree Farm in Salem, Oregon!

Corinna and Julie tied the knot at the family Christmas tree farm. It was a beautiful affair! Julie had a custom suit made for herself at Duchess, a custom vintage inspired suit maker. Corinna had a beautiful colorful dress as well, and it was made by Elizabeth Dye at English Depot. Julie arrived at the wedding on a Kubota ATV driven by the two ring bearers!

One of the highlights was that the drinks were made by Mint Restaurant/Bar.  Corinna told me that it was one of the first things they booked. The cocktails looked great and the guests really enjoyed them. What a cool idea! The catering was by Wild Pear catering in Salem, they did a great job! DJ was Dj Beyonda.

We later did a great photo shoot with Corinna’s sister’s horse. I love horses, so that was really fun for me!

Treasury Ballroom Wedding of Leslie and Nick (Associate Coverage)

Leslie and Nick had their wedding in Portland on the rooftop of the Portland Historic Treasury Ballroom. We love rooftop weddings in Portland!

We got some great ceremony shots of Leslie and Nick featuring some of Portland’s more famous buildings on top of the rooftop terrace of Portland Treasury Ballroom. For their wedding cake, they had a great idea - truffles from a uniquely Portland chocolatier, Moonstruck Chocolates Truffles! After the wedding ceremony, the guests enjoyed great catering of food and drinks by Vibrant Table while Andy, from A Sound Choice was making the dance floor come alive with the wedding guests with his mixes! We also did some pictures of the wedding couple in front of Portland Treasury Ballroom!
